French Army Rank 8 – Randomness

Lontan Rolls my rideAn update today on my Battleground Europe progress. I’ve managed to hit French Army Rank 8 by doing all kinds of random missions and using anything from my trusty Rifleman to an ATG (Anti Tank Gun). Rank 8 however, doesn’t provide me with anything other than a change to my badge so there’s no new equipment to talk about today.

Instead I’ve decided to give you all a quick run down of the kinds of things I’ve been up to in Battleground Europe since my last post. Some amusing, some strange and many rides in the trusty Laffy transport truck.

The first image on the left is one of my squad Lontan giving his truck a bit of a rest after hitting a bump in the terrain. I managed to jump out, in style of course.Hussars towing a bunch of ATG's

The second image shows the Hussars heading out to the perimeter of a town to set up a collection of ATG’s for tank suppression. This mission had mixed results and more than one run of ATG’s was taken out to the target area.

I did come to the conclusion that both myself and the squad seemed to live longer if I dropped early. My skill as an ATG gunner leaves a lot to be desired, getting the range right takes me a few shots at the moment and I always seem to get popped by an enemy tank in 1 shot.

A friendly plane decides to stop for a chat at an FBDuring my time playing Battleground Europe I often come across strange sights, one of which was the plane in the left image. Myself and another Hussar were blowing an enemy Forward Base which is something we do quite a lot, I’ll be found running solo out to FB’s on many occasions.

At this FB a friendly plane decided to land and watch us blowing the base before taking off along the uneven ground. I was a bit surprised to see the plane roll into the FB on the ground.

A Hussars tank columnI’ve been doing a lot of things in game with my squad as we are getting together at every opportunity to try and improve the map for our side. Things are not going too well this campaign, but the in the Hussars we are trying our best to change things.

The image to the right is of a tank column on the way to a target, just pausing to check the horizon before moving on.

On another FB bust runAs I’ve said, I often run Mobile Spawn Points out to enemy Forward Bases to blow them as blowing an FB forces your enemy to spawn in town rather than at a point between the two. Here’s a not very exciting pic, showing me being driven to one of the forward bases, it may well have been a hot drop run. A hot drop is where the driver drives straight into the FB and drops sapper(s) off. The sapper(s) then place their charges and stand by the truck to resupply, placing more charges until the FB is down.

French Army Rank 8 for YetianThe final image for this post is the promotion screen as I hit rank 8 in the French Army.

As you can see I reached the rank by doing all kinds of things in Battleground Europe and whilst I think the Sapper is still my best class type, I’m still trying to learn all the others. I have decent success with the Grenadier too and Rifleman. When in town or defending an FB I try to grab a Light Machine Gun, but I still get more kills with my rifle as both the Grenadier and Sapper use the rifle as their main weapon.

My ATG and tank skills could really use some work and I guess will take more practice. I am starting to get kills with the odd bombing run now, though I’m not yet half way through Air rank 2.

If you’ve killed or have been killed by me, why not drop me a comment and let us know how it happened. ;) Or if you have a strange/amusing screen shot you’d like us to see drop us a link either in the comments for this post or via our contact form.
