As I said in an earlier post I have been without the net for a bit while I moved house.
The other day I finally had the net installed and setup my PC, albeit surrounded by boxes I still haven’t unpacked.
During my enforced MMO break I did miss playing EQ2 and BE, though I realised when I logged back in for the first time in a while, that I had actually missed one aspect of gaming more than the gameplay itself.
It was my guild/squad mates which I missed the most. Over the years my EQ2 guildmates have become friends, many of whom are also friends outside of the MMO world. In BE I now play with a small group of people who while I haven’t known them as long as my EQ2 guild, are a good group who make the game more enjoyable for me.
I suppose this shouldn’t surprise me as MMOs are meant to be social games. I have read some recent posts however, pointing out that some MMO features for current or upcoming MMOs are removing some of the social aspect.
That would be a shame as for me my MMO enjoyment is vastly increased If I am playing with a good bunch of people who share the same aims and ideals as me.
Out of interest what do you miss the most about MMOs whenever you have to take a break?
