I’m fascinated with space, so to hear that NASA have given a commercial licence to produce an MMO (my other passion), I was beside myself with joy.
You see, space to me is something that I will never ever aspire too, I like billions on this planet will never experience true zero gravity, or adventure off this rock that spins around the sun.
So, much like other MMOs that are fantasy based, NASA MMO has really peeked my interest.
Astronaut: Moon, Mars & Beyond is a learning tool set in an MMO, so there’s clearly going to be an element of education that may impact on fun, yet, who doesn’t want to attempt a zero gravity chemical reaction?
The game isn’t just about pippets and Bunsen burners though, it does have an element of fun, such as G-Ball, a zero gravity ball game as well as travel between planets, thankfully not in real time.
With Beta as far away as December 2012 you can guess that there is a lot of dreamy eyes on the product. As it has to be commercially viable you can expect micro transactions to be a key part of the game.
You can learn more over at http://www.astronautmmo.com/dmf/, or you can get involved at kickstart.com where you can donate to the project if you so desire.
The game is set to come out on PC, Mac & iOS (iPad)
