Last night, after many weeks of questing and, grabbing updates, sneaking onto raids, I finally got my Mythical, The Truth of Marr. Now this is was going to be a post with some screenshots of the big scary dungeon that is Veeshan’s Peak, all the wiki’s, various EQ2 websites only have rubbish low rez ones, but alas, I forgot to take screenshots… (Well, I got one from in there.)
Anyway, on with the tale…
I managed to finish my Fabled epic some time ago, been building up my equipment from instances until I finally managed to get on a SoH pickup (a feat in itself, as most pick up raids tend to be sorted for tanks quite quickly.)
The Serverwide "spam" showed to everyone.
That’s where my “big break” came, I got noticed for my offtanking ability, huzzah! I then did a few more raids, then I became a Founding Member, and Main Tank of the (very short lived) Avit (you <insert rude word here>!) Raid alliance, which if i’m being honest, didn’t get too far into Tier 2 Raiding, but got me 2/3 of the Mythical Epic updates I required. After Avit… err… Adit (hoho!) I left my old guild, the fine people of <neXus> and joined some other fine people of <Vanguard> as a casual member, done the whole “hardcore raider” thing, not for me any more.

Done some raids, off-tanked some stuff, and then, I snuck onto a Veeshan’s Peak raid, after some deft negotiating (or just waiting, whatever…) for the guild leader to let me not only hop in, grab update, and hop out, get spangly sword, but to hopefully contribute to the entire raid (even though it was infact their 2nd session in that instance, natch) including a 3 second stint tanking Silverwing, after which I promptly hit the dirt, go me! Anyhoo, the point of this tale is, yes, I did get a nice sword. But would it have been as great an achievement if it wasn’t for the congratulations from the people of the leveled chat channels and NorrathTrade and the 50+ random people who sent me a /tell? I don’t think it would be, all you get from single player games is an end sequence and then the credits,but a show of appreciation from people who, lets be honest, we don’t really know all that well, pleased me immensly. This is by no means the end of the game, but it’s the only achievement in EQ2 that everyone can see happening. At first it annoyed me somewhat, but now, I see the effort involved. Kudos to everyone who’s had their Mythical, and Good Luck to those who are still hammering away at it, and Big Wodge Love ™ to everyone who sent me their congratulations, made me a very happy chap indeed!
