Rank 4 and new weapons

That’s right, I have reached the heady heights of rank 4 in Battleground Europe! It has taken me a while (Ffaffner got there first ), but I’ve managed it.

I get a few new classes to choose from at rank 4 but I can’t tell you what they are, rather than look at the new classes I’m still trying out some I gained at rank 3.

The main 2 classes I have tried over the last week or so have been LMG (Light Machine Gun) and Bofors (AA gun).

The first pic in this post is of my first few attempts at using the LMG. A lot of people using an LMG seem to camp in one spot with it and lay down fire, which is fine and is something I’ve done since when defending. I prefer to use it as an offensive weapon myself as I like to push out pausing to observe or take people down as I go. The 9 kill sortie was a result of moving towards an enemy FB stopping to take down ei as I saw them.

I was running through the bushes by the road and kept coming across them across the road or in my face. It’s amazing how effective an LMG is when running up to an EI and spraying bullets at them from close range. I also killed 2 opels in that run, but forgot to take a print screen with the kill tab selected, I’ll do that next time. This 9 kill sortie was followed by another 7 kill one and then a few 1′s and 2′s.

I also managed to shoot down a plane with my LMG, as I was defending a town at one stage and the plane came in low following the road. I was the only defender in the area so pointed at a spot in front of the plane and held down my fire button. Sure enough the plane (already smoking I should add), flew right into the stream of bullets. Something fell of and the incoming plane dropped into a field.

The other class I’ve tried a few times recently has been the Bofors, an anti aircraft gun. The first try I had with this unit was with my squad the Hussars when we had a large group of Bofors towed out to an enemy airfield. We set ourselves up on the take off path and waited for the planes to take off.

I only managed 1 kill but it’s surprising how much fun sitting still and shooting at enemy air can be. Especially when they come looking for you. I think one of our squad managed 6 kills and between us I reckon we managed double figures.

Since this first try I’ve jumped on a Bofor whenever there is a lot of incoming enemy air as there’s something satisfying about blowing a wing or two off your target. I’ve still to try flying on the live server so no doubt at some point soon I’ll be on the receiving end of this type of weapon. There’s still a good number of classes I’ve yet to try so look out for more posts from the front line.
