I made my next rank in Battleground Europe – Army rank 5 (Sergeant).
You’ll notice I said Army rank 5, as I realised my earlier posts should have stated that too. In Battleground Europe on the allied side you have 6 persona’s, 2 Army, 2 Navy and 2 Airforce. Each set of two is one British and one French. The ranks for each type of persona are linked, so if your rank 5 in the British Army your rank 5 in the French Army. At least that’s what seems to happen for me so far, I’ll keep you all posted if this changes as I level. This means my Navy and Air Force rank is still 1, so this will need working on.
At rank 5 the only available new unit I have tried and the only one available to infantry is the Sniper class.
I have played a few sorties with this weapon and enjoy picking people off when they think they are safe and in cover. It does have it’s drawbacks in that if you don’t keep unscoping it’s easy for someone (in a noisy area), to sneak up on you. When scoped whilst your view is zoomed in, you can’t see as much of your surroundings.
Another class I have played a lot more is the Sapper, though I have to say for most of the time my skill at sapping tanks isn’t worth talking about. I did however thanks to a great post on my squads forum find a link to a PDF Sapper guide, which all Sappers should have by their side. Armed with my new guide I managed 2 tanks in the first sortie and three on my next. It takes me a while to work out which tank is which from the guide, using either binoculars or normal view. Once I work out the tank though I havn’t failed to get the right spot so far, probably beginners luck but hey.
It finally happened! I tried my first live flight which didn’t go as planned, I flew a few bomber missions with the Blenheim fighter/bomber and a fighter I can’t remember. I need some training on the flight side of things, which I’ll bug my squad about. Not sure I have things mapped to my joystick as I should and my first attempts at flight didn’t go well. When I did manage to get the Blenheim off the ground I spent what seemed like ages fighting with the plane to get stable.
I did actually manage to get to my target of an enemy forward base on one occasion and despite two passes over the base failed to hit the target with my bombs. I did have enemy planes shooting my the whole time though. A third pass never happened as I was hit and spiraled towards the ground. I managed to direct the plane onto a Bofors sat at the FB but despite landing on top of the said gun, I didn’t get the kill.
I also managed my record rifle sortie so far! 10 kills which is the most in one sortie so far in BE, it might not be a lot for some but it is for me.
I’ve managed a couple of 8′s and a 9 too.
Look our for more posts about the different unit types as I get to grips with them over time.

Tanks are pretty easy to work out the type.
P4D is the easiest, it is grey/blue with a stub gun.
P3F/H are the same, you can tell the difference by the sound.
Stug3b/3g has no turret, they are also lower, 3g has a mottled green/tan armour colour, stug3b has a grey/blue colouring
P2 is the easiest, it sounds like a milk float as it approaches, back of the turret for this one, I believe you can kill this with a rifle if you know how.
p38t is the little brother, fast and agile, I hate this one as it’s tough to pop due to the placement, but you can tell which it is because it looks small like a P2 but without the low turret that the P2 has.
Clown car (aka 232), easiest to kill and can definitely be deceased with a rifle. I enjoy popping the tyres on this one, eventually it can get itself in a spiral spin and be totally undriveable which is amusing.
