As you can see from the pic I’ve finally gained promotion to rank 6 of the British Army in Battleground Europe.
Rank 6 with any persona grants you the right to make missions of your own. With the French Army I’m often found running Spawn points out to enemy Forward Bases to blow them. I can now do the same with the British Army. It’s take a while longer than the french rank as I seem to find myself fighting as a British soldier far less than I do the French.
Since my last post, a lot seems to have happened in the world of Battleground Europe, at least for me. I finally hit rank 2 in the air force and the navy!
The pic to the left shows how I gained rank in the air force, well completed the first rank. I needed about 50 points for rank 2 and so I spent a while bombing bridges with attack orders on. Each bridge bombed gives you 30 points and although it did take some time (my bombing needs work), I managed to get my rank. Rank 2 doesn’t actually give you anything else that I can see as most of the new planes come at rank 3. I also achieved a new rank in the navy by playing as navy infantry mostly, though I did spend some time hunting tanks from a river in a Fairmile (small attack vessel).
It’s intermission in Battleground Europe (well until later today), as my side the Allies lost Campaign 53.
Before I go onto my thoughts on the Campaign I’ll talk about the intermission that Cornered Rat Software setup.
In short they set the map up with a kind of Battle of Britain arrangement. The two sides were to fight over the channel with the allies already having towns in France so a ground war would be underway straight away.
Yes guys, it’s time for another WWIIO:BE post! (Have no idea how to abbreviate this hellish title 
) The reason being ofcourse that I recently bought myself a joystick for the simple reason that I Believe I Can Fly…or at least I Want To Believe.

That’s right, I have reached the heady heights of rank 4 in Battleground Europe! It has taken me a while (Ffaffner got there first ), but I’ve managed it.
I get a few new classes to choose from at rank 4 but I can’t tell you what they are, rather than look at the new classes I’m still trying out some I gained at rank 3.
The main 2 classes I have tried over the last week or so have been LMG (Light Machine Gun) and Bofors (AA gun).
Well it’s happened! My trial is over and Battleground Europe is the next MMO to take my money from me!
That’s right, along with Ffaffner and Sres from here at MMO Symposium I’m now a paid up BE player. Wodge also had a shot at the trial but as he’s a bit of a graphics nut I reckon that’s the reason I haven’t seen him in game.
I like to have a PvP (Player Vs Player) game for my 2nd MMO to EQ2 and BE fits the bill well for me. It also helps that the squad I joined are a good bunch and like a laugh while playing, so thanks to the Hussars for having me.
After about a week of my 30-day trial of the 8 year old MMOFPS World War II: Battleground Europe, I am surprised at how exciting I’m finding this game. It might just be the smell of new MMO, but it’s like this game is everything I ever wanted Counterstrike and Battlefield to be.

David Jun from Acclaim games has contacted us with details of a trial offer for their new MMO Chronicles of Spellborn.

After Sres’s posts here on MMO-Symposium I decided to give Battleground Europe (World War II Online) a go and signed up for the free trial.
As is usual for me I didn’t do any training other than the first few tutorials you have to complete before you can see active duty, all of which only took around 5-10 mins.
If you’re a follower of Battleground Europe, you will have already seen the competition that Rafter announced in the last few days to win a trip to Bedford, Texas and meet the developers of the game, other gamers and have some fun in sunny Texas.
CRS have for a number of years now had a conference where they invite players to Texas to have a few beers, play poker and try Flak Panzer Oil (You can read about FPO @ Icebreakers website.)
However this time around CRS have put up a competition that will allow anyone from anywhere in the world to get a VIP trip to visit CRS and other Battleground Europe enthusiasts at their 10th Birthday bash.
