Placing Everquest 2 House items

One of the bookshelves in the neXus Guildhall libraryI logged onto Everquest 2 early this morning and went to place a book in our guild hall library. After placing it and having a look around I noticed someone had made a start on tidying the shelves so the books look better placed. I decided to continue their work and set about placing items on the shelves. This is where the pain began!

Darkfall – Release day

Well it’s finally arrived, today is the Darkfall online release day. According to the forums there were some pre-orders which were filled quickly and today they will be allowing another batch of players to sign up.

Many people will moan about the fact that Adventurine are taking new players in batches rather than all at once, but I actually think it is a good move. Adventurine are no SOE or Blizzard and as a result don’t have the finances to risk opening tons of servers to start with, only to have to merge some later on if they are not all full. This way they ensure that each server they open has a good population at the beginning, sure they might have to merge later if people drop out of the game but it’s better than having empty servers from the off.

Moria Warrior

Mines of MoriaA little while ago I talked about one of the aspects of the Mines of Moria expansion for LOTRO that I was disappointed with (See: Fall From Grace). Now that I have had a chance to delve deeper into the halls below the Misty Mountains, I’m happy to report that the experience was a singular exception.

Estate of Unrest – A zone well done!

There are few zones In Everquest 2 where as much effort has been put into making them unique as the Estate of Unrest in Butcherblock Mountains. Last night myself and my guild (including Wodge and Ffaffner) ventured into this zone after a suggestion from myself as I needed the SoD statue.

Many of you will remember the Unrest from the original Everquest where if you went 5 minutes without hearing “TRAIN TO ZONE!!!!” something was wrong. I have fond memories of hunting beetles there from around level 12 and always enjoyed the zone, when I wasn’t on the wrong end of an undead stampede.

Unrest in Everquest 2 has had a bit of a boost, it seems in 500 years the inhabitants have grown a bit. The level 12 beetles are now 70/71 as are most of the other mobs in the zone. The layout is pretty much the same and a lot of the creatures in the zone are too, the experience however is more than a bit different.

Maths Based Action!

Ok, so I’ve finally sorted out my PC (which rather spectacularly went the way of eggs in microwave ovens) and after 18 hours of patching joy, I’ve finally got back into my MMO of choice, the behemoth that is EverQuest II.  After much fiddling with UI, working out how to switch multicore support off, and generally waffling about, I went into the big bad world of Pickup Groups.

Today I picked Scion of Ice, a nice easy instance to ease my way back into doing what I do best; annoying mobs and taking a damned good thrashing.  First mob down, no problems, moved onto the next, then… Lo and behold! A parse dump in group chat! Apparently I am 1900 or thereabouts, not fussed on wether that is good or not, whearas a squishier person, today that role is a warlock (don’t even get me started on amends) was around 4000.  This continued for the duration of the instance, every few mobs, the numbers returned, boredom sets in, my number goes down, dinner is almost ready, heads back up, food is postponed, down it plummets… (aggro, meanwhile, is unaffected, of course).

Yetian’s New Outfit

Yetian's current outfit, quested in Kylong Plains

Just a short post today, another Yetian and MMO fashion post. On our blog here we often post about upcoming MMO titles, our thoughts on MMO’s in general as well as our in game experiences. Personally a lot of my MMO related thoughts are brought about by my in game experiences which is where the previous post on  Yetian and Everquest 2 Tailoring came from.

Here is the current outfit I’ve managed to find for Yetian. The boots and arms are actually Tier 1 rare tailoring bits, soon to be replaced when I find new items. The chest and leg pieces are quested armour from the Kylong Plains quest series, a Tier 8 (around level 70) zone. So as things go Yetian a master tailor has had to quest for a new appearance set, typical SOE.

New Theme for MMO-Symposium

After gathering opinion on the blog so far, a common comment was the old theme was a bit hard to read sometimes. We’ve been having a play around on a test blog we setup and what you are seeing now is the result. There is still a bit of tweaking to come but I hope you all find it easier to read the the old one and enjoy reading our blog.
