Rank 4 and new weapons

Kills with my light machine gun That’s right, I have reached the heady heights of rank 4 in Battleground Europe! It has taken me a while (Ffaffner got there first ;) ), but I’ve managed it.

I get a few new classes to choose from at rank 4 but I can’t tell you what they are, rather than look at the new classes I’m still trying out some I gained at rank 3.

The main 2 classes I have tried over the last week or so have been LMG (Light Machine Gun) and Bofors (AA gun).

Guild Progression

I logged onto Everquest 2 the other night to help a guild mate out with his last Epic stage, along with other members of my guild.

We went through Maidens without too much trouble, even though our enchanter was a few levels below 80. Nikky did well though and despite some resists managed to keep 80+ mobs mezzed (in a trance and unable to attack), a lot of the time.

As it turned out another of our members had an epic update off the last named which he didn’t even know he needed, this was despite falling down the same hole 5 times in a row. We think that must be some kind of record. ;)

Masters are Like Buses…

masters are like busesYou don’t see any for ages and two come along at once…

I’ve been playing Everquest 2 since release and believe it or not I’ve never looted a Master spell for the class I’m playing at the time. Well today that changed, thanks to a pickup group in the Anathema and Crucible TSO instances.

Wait, eeerrhh…there’s eyecandy in my MMO!

On-screen spell effects from Everquest 2

Since MMOs went from text-based MUDs to beautifully 3d-rendered virtual worlds, there’s been a…”discussion” regarding the importance of graphics vs. gameplay. I really don’t wanna make this a new battleground for the MMO-kiddies and the MMO-purists to throw mud(*pun-alert!*) at each other, but lately I’ve been having an out-of-mmo-experience and I feel like addressing a few issues. Let me start out by saying that graphics are very important to me. I need to believe in the world on my screen. I need to immerse myself enough that I forget the real world, where I’m not allowed to wield a 2-hander at work or blast off into space while emptying plasma-cannons onto evil adversaries and nearby traffic.

Battlefield tales from the 3rd rank

On the vehicle spawn - battleground europeWell it’s happened! My trial is over and Battleground Europe is the next MMO to take my money from me!

That’s right, along with Ffaffner and Sres from here at MMO Symposium I’m now a paid up BE player. Wodge also had a shot at the trial but as he’s a bit of a graphics nut I reckon that’s the reason I haven’t seen him in game.

I like to have a PvP (Player Vs Player) game for my 2nd MMO to EQ2 and BE fits the bill well for me. It also helps that the squad I joined are a good bunch and like a laugh while playing, so thanks to the Hussars for having me.

Huxley Closed Beta

Huxley - accepting closed beta invitesJust a quick post today, regarding an upcoming MMO FPS named Huxley.

Huxley is now accepting closed beta invites so if your looking for an MMO FPS game I’d pop over to their site and get your application in.

As a writer here at MMO Symposium I feel obliged to try out new MMO’s. ;) As a former Planetside player I’m hoping I get into the beta for Huxley so once the NDA’s lifted I can give my thoughts. Failing that, I’ll be keeping an eye on this game as it progresses as it has enough about it to have my interest for the moment.

So get your beta applications in and who knows you may see me there.

The Chronicles of Spellborn

Shardship in SpellbornSometimes a game appears and you wonder where it came from;  The Chronicles of Spellborn is one of those games.  A free to download game from Acclaim, TCOS has pitted itself in a fantasy roll somewhere between WoW and the rest of the MMORPG world or so it hopes…

TCOS is one of those games that is trying to break the mould of how an MMORPG plays, it has a unique combat system that is trying to combine arcade games like Street Fighter, with an FPS style in an RPG environment.  Right now I’m as confused as you; but the fact remains that the although it’s a big change from the normal MMORPG, the combat does make you feel more involved, not only in combat but after combat when you need to visit your skilldeck to adjust the skills that you use during combat.
