New EQ2 expansion Sentinel’s Fate

According to Zam a new Everquest 2 expansion Sentinel’s Fate has been announced!

The expansion is based around Odus and will explore both the Kerra and Erudite lore in much more detail. The level cap will also be raised to 90.

As my main Yetian is a Barbarian Warden the next bit of news has me excited…. Halas is back!! That’s right, Halas is to return in the form of a new starting city, at the same time as the release of the expansion.

Other news mentioned at Zam is the move to a 3 monthly update cycle for Everquest 2 and the news that Game Update 53 will allow a character to “down-tier” without having to mentor another character. This will allow you to complete quests solo at the right level, which previously would have been grey.

Why do you craft in MMO’s?

A quick post today, regarding crafting in MMOs. Yesterday a simple thanks from a guild mate for an item I made, got me thinking.

Crafting In MMOs is something I always enjoy doing, yes it can be a grind but I do enjoy having the ability to make items for myself and members of my guild or other in game friends.

In Everquest 2 I currently have a Master Tailor (80), a Master Weapon smith (80) and an 80 Woodworker who hasn’t finished his master quest, as I’m lazy. ;)

The Day Ffaffner Got His Wings (will hopefully dawn in the near future!)

Yes guys, it’s time for another WWIIO:BE post! (Have no idea how to abbreviate this hellish title ;) ) The reason being ofcourse that I recently bought myself a joystick for the simple reason that I Believe I Can Fly…or at least I Want To Believe.

Another Alt is Born

Gallish the Kerra TroubadourMy current main Yetian is level 80 in t2 shard armour and has picked up his 1st tier 3 shard piece. I’ve finished Jarsath and have started working the quests in the Moors of Ykesha. A bit late I know but I wanted to finish the RoK lines first. I think Yetian currently has about 147 Achievement points and is working at edging closer to the 200 cap.

As our guild now has 2 soon to be 3 level 80 healer mains other than myself, one of which is another Warden, I thought I’d make an alt to level up for use in guild groups. I still plan to play Yetian as my main but as my other level 80 character is also a healer it would be nice to have an alternative.

Beerdrinkers and Spellraisers

The other day I was eating dinner with a friend of mine, who just finished his last paper getting a degree in IT-something-something. It had been hard work, and he told me he’d been drinking a few beers before going to sleep while finishing the paper. He told me that he calmed down, and was able to go to sleep in spite of the stressfulness of his situation. He ended his small tale with a shy smile and a “I never thought i’d be sitting drinking beer all by myself!”-comment. Ofcourse the last comment was all made in jest, as the guy doesnt have a drinking problem, but I still couldn’t shake the thought that; “Hey, I do that at least once a week!…or do I?”.

Army rank 5 – Sniper and more

I made my next rank in Battleground Europe – Army rank 5 (Sergeant).

You’ll notice I said Army rank 5, as I realised my earlier posts should have stated that too. In Battleground Europe on the allied side you have 6 persona’s, 2 Army, 2 Navy and 2 Airforce. Each set of two is one British and one French. The ranks for each type of persona are linked, so if your rank 5 in the British Army your rank 5 in the French Army. At least that’s what seems to happen for me so far, I’ll keep you all posted if this changes as I level. This means my Navy and Air Force rank is still 1, so this will need working on.

Your Wow factor

I was chatting with a friend and fellow MMO player the other day about old MMO zones or features that made you think “Wow this game is amazing/massive”.

That’s right not the World of Warcraft abbreviation, but simply the first time we were amazed by something in an MMO.

Sunset in the East CommonsFor me my first MMO was Everquest and I remember clearly my first foray from Freeport as a Dwarven Paladin named Bruenark. The East Commons was my first out of city area and I wandered around whacking the odd skelly for a bit. Now the East Commons was a nice zone but it’s large tree’s and many huts and other features didn’t give it the large open feel of my next zone.
