New Look!

Finally, after several thousand hours in some graphic design application, and many years browsing the interwebz for a new WP theme, we have a newly designed website.

Much love and thanks to Sres for fixing the CSS and stuff, and to Yeti for not hating it when he eventually sees it.

On the Blogroll: MMOQuests.com

Just another heads up regarding the latest addition to the MMO Symposium blogroll.

Today’s addition is MMOQuests.com an MMO blog run by Stargrace who I’ve been following on Twitter for some time and of course having a read of her blog posts along with the twitter stream. In fact my entire knowledge of the changes to LOTRO has come via MMOQuests recently due to my lack of MMO playtime in the last few months.

If you hurry you’ve also just enough time to sign up for the gamers secret santa, I’d love to do so myself but my lack of sleep at the moment means I could end up posting my 2 month old son rather than a more suitable present. ;) Maybe next year Stargrace? ;)

On the Blogroll: Troll racials are overpowered

A quick post today, the first in a possible new series of quick posts.

MMO bloggers usually have a blogroll of other MMO blogs they link to which are deemed interesting and of use to their readers. Here at MMO-Symposium our blogroll has a good few sites for you to check out and today I thought I’d drop a quick post about the latest addition.

Thanks to Gordon over at WeFlySpitfires I discovered a new MMO blog today. The blog in question is Troll Racials are overpowered, a refreshing MMO blog where it’s owner Klepsacovic isn’t afraid of stating his opinion in an honest and amusing manner. Posts such as “Goblins and Gnomes are perverts” and twitter comments like “It amuses me that my mage could two-shot himself” certainly brightened up my morning reading at work today.

So welcome to the MMO-Symposium blogroll Klepsacovic and to the rest of you, go have a read.

The blogging block

Apologies for the slow arrival of posts in the last month or so, I’m having a (partly enforced) blogging block. With a mini me on the way and all the things that need to be sorted before the arrival, my time for gaming (for those long weekend sessions) is reduced. I’ve had less time to look around the MMO space or to write the posts here.

I’m hoping this will improve now most things are sorted out though I’m sure when baby arrives I’ll find gaming time harder to find.

It has got me thinking though about blogging in general. What kind of posts do people want to see? Lots of MMO blogs post only about aspects of the genre or upcoming games, with less in game experience posts. Here at MMO-Symposium myself and the other slacking writers have tried to make the site about all aspects of MMO’s. For me in game experiences are a big part of my MMO life and I often like to write about them or post a few pics of what I’ve been up to in game. I even thought about having a dedicated MMO photo blog as I sometimes feel that angles on MMO’s I want to write about have all been covered by those who slack less.

New Plugin for you Smart Phone users

I’ve installed the WPtouch Mobile Plugin after a recommendation from the owner of We Fly Spitfires MMO blog.

The plugin should detect your smart phone and display a faster, easier to navigate version of MMO-Symposium. I know most of these phones have a full web browser, I have an Iphone myself, If you prefer to use the normal theme on your phone there is an option to turn the theme off at if you scroll to the bottom of the page. The mobile theme plugin does result in faster page loads and it presents a nice front page where you can choose which post you want to read. Granted you probably will want to read them all if you haven’t already but hey. ;)

Let me know how you find the new plugin and if you have any issues with it when viewing this blog.

Fancy airing your MMO views?

My posting is likely to be a bit sparse over the next few weeks and has been for the past few as I’m in the process of moving house.

It has reminded me of an idea I had previously.

Here at MMO-Symposium we have a few writers who drop in from time to time (some slacking more than others ;) ), though we are always open to more.

New Theme for MMO-Symposium

After gathering opinion on the blog so far, a common comment was the old theme was a bit hard to read sometimes. We’ve been having a play around on a test blog we setup and what you are seeing now is the result. There is still a bit of tweaking to come but I hope you all find it easier to read the the old one and enjoy reading our blog.

MMO-Symposium has a new header!

I’d just like to say a big thanks to our site editor Hobbit of Consequence for her great work on our new site header!

It’s given the site a great look and as a result we are ready to begin posting our MMO related ramblings.

Welcome to MMO Symposium

Welcome to MMO Symposium!

MMO Symposium is a new blog about mmo experiences and news created and written by a few friends from an Everquest 2 guild. As well as this blog we’ll be adding the odd guide to pass on our wise (or not so wise), words to anyone who wants to listen.

In time we will likely open the blog up to one or two others who play MMO’s which we don’t, to give opinions on other games as well as the ones we have experience with.

Rather than post the same content twice (don’t want google shouting at us), there’s some info about the site in general and why we chose the name on our about page.

More menu options and other bits will be added to the site shortly, when the dreaded real life allows.
