Virtual to Reality

neXus gaming guild

I have been in my guild neXus since our formation over 4 years ago, I am officially the Deputy Leader of neXus although we make all decisions as a group where possible. We founded the guild as we wanted a casual small guild where members knew each other and everyone would help each other out when they could. All of us  founding members had been in guilds who’s ideals were the same as ours and had some good, some not so good experiences.

People told us it wouldn’t work and that we’d never get anywhere with such a small guild…

neXus takes out a level 80 epic WTF?!

Sebilis after Wizard epic updateFirstly let me apologise for the use of WTF in the title of this post. It will all become clear as the story of last nights EQ2 session unfolds.

I logged on to help Sofran get his Wizard epic update in Sebilis and our group formed up quickly. The nights group consisted of myself as Yetian (Warden), Milkyjoe (Guardian), Katary (Conjuror), Sofran (Wizard), Flashman (Illusionist) and MMO-Symposium’s very own Ffaffner (Paladin).

We entered Sebilis hacked our way down to the first waterfall area killed a named and Sofran had his update. Easy I know, this was only the beginning of the night however..

Be afraid… be very afraid

As some of you may know (from other posts), my main is Yetian a Barbarian Warden. My other level 80 character is also a healer, Mawmet a Sarnak Inquisitor. I have a 70 Necro, a 73 Wizard and a few low level alts.

My latest alt and the one I’d planned to spend the most time on (between gathering Achievement points with Yetian), is Gallish my Kerran Troubadour.

The other day however a few guild mates suggested I level my created but pretty much untouched Dwarf Paladin, Bruenark…

Why do you craft in MMO’s?

A quick post today, regarding crafting in MMOs. Yesterday a simple thanks from a guild mate for an item I made, got me thinking.

Crafting In MMOs is something I always enjoy doing, yes it can be a grind but I do enjoy having the ability to make items for myself and members of my guild or other in game friends.

In Everquest 2 I currently have a Master Tailor (80), a Master Weapon smith (80) and an 80 Woodworker who hasn’t finished his master quest, as I’m lazy. ;)

Beerdrinkers and Spellraisers

The other day I was eating dinner with a friend of mine, who just finished his last paper getting a degree in IT-something-something. It had been hard work, and he told me he’d been drinking a few beers before going to sleep while finishing the paper. He told me that he calmed down, and was able to go to sleep in spite of the stressfulness of his situation. He ended his small tale with a shy smile and a “I never thought i’d be sitting drinking beer all by myself!”-comment. Ofcourse the last comment was all made in jest, as the guy doesnt have a drinking problem, but I still couldn’t shake the thought that; “Hey, I do that at least once a week!…or do I?”.

Guild Progression

I logged onto Everquest 2 the other night to help a guild mate out with his last Epic stage, along with other members of my guild.

We went through Maidens without too much trouble, even though our enchanter was a few levels below 80. Nikky did well though and despite some resists managed to keep 80+ mobs mezzed (in a trance and unable to attack), a lot of the time.

As it turned out another of our members had an epic update off the last named which he didn’t even know he needed, this was despite falling down the same hole 5 times in a row. We think that must be some kind of record. ;)

The benefits of a good guild

Last night I logged on to Everquest 2 for our guilds Thursday Heritage Quest night. Each week we get together to complete Heritage Quests to earn status for the guild as well as experience and status for those involved. Status allows the guild to level which in turns unlocks various new items and sometimes amenities for the guild hall.

This week our HQ organiser had planned for us to do An ancient desert power which takes place in the Sinking Sands. We headed out with a full group mentoring down to 65 and picked up a few other players on the way also wanting to do the HQ.

An SOE customer service gem!

With the release of guild halls in Everquest our guild had a lot to do. As a casual bunch we opted for the Tier 2 hall so we didn’t overstretch ourselves. South Qeynos was the location of choice and before long we were adding amenities and furniture to help make our hall a home. One amenity of choice was the option of adding uniform mannequins so we could kit out our npc’s with some nice outfits.

We purchased 2 mannequins at first and managed to setup the uniforms without any problems, well lack of fashion sense maybe, but that’s a whole other topic. ;)

After a while our urge for weird and wonderful outfits got the better of us and we purchased 2 more mannequins. Upon trying to use the 2 additional uniforms we’d created we came upon our first problem, 2 of the mannequins had the name “uniform 1″ and 2 “uniform 2″. This meant that the game could only see the first 2 and thefore we had 2 mannequins that we couldn’t do anything with.

A guildmate contact a GM who told us to sell the mannequins and re-purchase. We did this as asked and then sent a petition to regain the status lot from selling them back to the hall, this is where the problems began.

SOE decided that we had bought 2 mannequins and received 4, when in actual fact we had purchased 2 and received 2, then purchased 2 more and received 2 more. My efforts to make them see this can be seen below.
