Battleground Europe the next level

As a long time subscriber to Battleground Europe I have always had high hopes for this game and truly believed that it was only a matter of time until the guys at Cornered Rat Software pulled something off that had everyone salivating, even those skeptics over at secret off topic, although I doubt you’d ever appease some of the more fervent haters of the game.

Intermission and a new rank

Flying in a Blenheim MKIV-TIt’s intermission in Battleground Europe (well until later today), as my side the Allies lost Campaign 53.

Before I go onto my thoughts on the Campaign I’ll talk about the intermission that Cornered Rat Software setup.

In short they set the map up with a kind of Battle of Britain arrangement. The two sides were to fight over the channel with the allies already having towns in France so a ground war would be underway straight away.

So what is Battleground Europe?

MMOG Comparison MapBattleground Europe is a little known MMOG from Cornered Rat Software, Battleground Europe pits you against hundreds of other dedicated players who fight in a single arena across northern France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany.  The game has a multitude of distinctive WWII era equipment, from the Luger to the Enfield, the Sherman tank to the Tiger and Focker Wulf 190 to the distinctive Spitfire.

Experience war in three dimenions

Visually Battleground Europe isn’t going to win any awards, it’s a whole lot better than what it was back in 2001, but it’s certainly not on par with Far Cry and Call of Duty, so to make the game even more immersive you have to go into another dimension.

Battleground Europe has recently been given the thumbs up by iZ3D who have developed a 22″ 3D monitor, yes a 3D monitor for playing games.
